STAYCATION: SHANGRI-LA at the FORT

In my early twenties, my birthdays were celebrated with good food, drinks and great company. But as adulting and motherhood consumed me, all I wanted for this year was to get some good sleep. However, I was (again) surprised with a staycation at Shangri-la at the Fort Manila by my partner. I’ve already planted a me-time scenario in my mind but hey, it’s not everyday that we indulge in a 5-star service so why notttt.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with some local products from Mindanao- dried pineapples and banana chips
what to do first?
Now of course the toddler won’t miss her swim time even it was freezing cold. I like that they have a pool with sprinklers(but I don’t think she can take the intensity of the water!), a normal pool and a jacuzzi :)
Apart from the hotel amenities, I like that it is conveniently located beside The Mind Museum and Bonifacio High Street. You may choose to dine in, shop or catch a movie with the hubby when the kids are sleeping already. When we were there, we just wanted to check out what’s new from The Gourmand Market.

Now if you want your kids to get busy, the Adventure Zone is just the perfect hangout place inside the hotel. You need to pay an entrance fee of P600 per child (accompanied with one adult)Aside from the play area for kdis, you also get the chance to try out Kerry Sports where you can enjoy free use of the gym and indoor basketball court. They also have free classes you just have to take note of the class schedules. I enjoyed my yoga session even though I felt pressured to perfect the poses because I think most of the students are regulars already. Plus, I think I was the ONLY pinoy in the room and the yoga teacher. hihi.

Morning time came and you know what that means.. breakfast buffet at the High Street Cafe. I’m such a morning person and the only thing that I really look forward to when staying in a hotel is the buffet, of course!
with just the variety of bread they offer, I was already full with my first serving!
I wish I could tell you how yum their ham with honey was. They offer Taiwanese, Chinese, Korean, American and Filipino dishes.
Ok, I’m trying to learn about the different types of cheese so I just had to get a piece of everything. I have to say, Feta won my heart!
Legit Laksa. That spicy coconut soup!
and some more bread. Not in photo- some gelato to cap off my breakfast. I told myself this will be the only meal I will have for the day! HAHA
Our family staycation at Shangri-la at the Fort was perfect. What can I say, you really get what you pay for. I’m not gonna lie, I hate spending on expensive hotels because there’s a lot of bed and breakfast places out there that are budget-friendly. But you can never replace that with topnotch service and  of course, the best experience. Like what my partner would always tell me, just enjoy it. Cheers to being 28!
