Sensitive skin runs in our family. My daughter’s skin was perfectly fine until she turned two. That was when she started having rashes and bumps all over her body which annoyed her (and me) most of the time. We could not pinpoint where and how it started and I know that there is no one culprit to this issue. It could be caused by the weather changes -if it’s too hot or too cold. Or when she started drinking formula milk (we tried a lot of brands already I tell you). Her diet also plays a big factor because she likes chicken and fish which are really malansa. Our pedia couldn’t tell us what was going on. Instead, she advised us to give her medication and skin care products to at least relieve her from the itchiness. I don’t like to say that it was unnecessary expense but whew the amount we shell out for her maintenance was quite big, if you know what I mean. So I promised that with baby #2, I will be more careful and make sure that he doesn’t have to go through all of these!
When he was born, we used a mild cleanser that all new mommies were raving about. It was okay but there was a point when I started questioning the ability of the cleanser to really clean the body. I also had a hard time rinsing off the excess soap. Anyway, after five months of sticking with the mild cleanser, I had the courage to finally try a new set of skin care products for him. I started using the Belo Baby bar soap. Unlike the mild cleanser, I definitely felt like it really cleansed my child’s body-no sticky feeling.
I was hesitant to put lotion at first but I remember that to prevent from having eczema or dry skin, you have to lock in moisture. As in right after showering when the skin is still a bit damp, you have to start putting lotion right away. And so I did. The lotion is a bit runny so be careful when pressing the container. I spread a little amount and it goes a long way! Also, it doesn’t leave a sticky feeling which is super important for me especially that it’s summer and my kids can’t really take the heat (well, who does anyway?!) And did I tell you that the scent is so bango and lasts for hours! Not too strong for the kids and not too mild that he will smell maasim in just a few hours.
We finished off with a cologne, our favorite scent, Happy Tickle. Honestly, I’m pretty happy already with the soap and lotion combination so I put cologne only when he has lakad (naks!). How about you, what skin care products worked well with your baby?
